Singapore located at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula. A diamond-shaped island and some 60 small Islets. .A leading global city of the 21st centuryThe population is diverse due to past immigration of Chinese which is three-fourths of the total. This is followed by Malays which is the largest ethnic group and, Indians the third. 

 

On September 1963, Singapore became part of Malaysia that lay down an economic growth for the country. Singapore needed the Malays to provide regular market for its industries and create jobs and profitable growth for the country. Singapore became an essential port of call for early travelers between India and China in vice-versa.

 

Rajendra Chola ruler of the Southern Indian Chola Kingdom attacked the Island in 1025. It is well known that one of the official languages of Singapore is, TAMIL. This is due to a large population of Indian and Singapore became their home for last few hundred years. Chola had an active trade relationship with CHINA and other countries in the western world. ‘Singapore’ comes from “SINGHA” and ‘pura’ ( the city of lions) that italicize Singapore’s India connection?

  1. MERLION

The famous landmark of Singapore where a half-lion and half-mermaid shower water from its mouth. It has been said that if you have been showered from the Merlion you can make a secret wish.

In September 1972 Prime Minister Lee Kwan Yew unveiled the Icon at the mouth of the Singapore River. This Icon was built by a local artist Lim Nang Seng to welcome all visitors to Singapore.

The statue stands tall at 8.6 meters and weighs 70 Tonnes. Merlion symbolizes Singapore’s humble beginning as a fishing village when it used to be called, TEMASEK, ( lake in Malay). The merlions head represents Singapores original name ,Singapura, the Lion City in Malay.

    2. MARINA BAY SANDS

Known to be the most Iconic hotel since the worlds largest rooftop infinity pool is located here. It has the most expensive standalone casino. Owned by Las Vegas Sands. Sheldon Adelson, a New Yorker is the Chairman and Chief Executive of Las Vegas Sands.

Architect Moshe  Safdie a Canadian-Israeli revealed that Marina Bay Sands was modelled using pieces of  LEGOThe complex contains one of the biggest hotel in the world, famous for its triple towers linked at the top with Sky Garden. It has two Theatres, shops, restaurants and infinity pool. It is a must see!

 

  3. SENTOSA ISLAND

Known for ” the state of fun” Island. It is suitable for all ages and non-stop adventure.

There are never-ending activities that you can do like, SKYLINE & LUGE a comfortable open-air cable car that will take you from Singapore to Sentosa Island. Then after the sky ride, you get to choose between Dragons Trail or Jungle Trail. But why only take one ride when you can have both? One fun ride is not enough. Adventure cove Water Park since the weather in Singapore is quite hot during summertime. It is also home to the tallest Merlion Statue ever built.

4. ANN SIANG HILL

Ann Siang Hill was used to be SCOTTS HILL, and owned by Charles Scott the who cultivated a Nutmeg and Clove estate on this hill. The hill was sold to Chia Ann Siang who built his house and estate.

 

This busy area is the nightlife of the Singaporeans and visitors. The district is lined with stylish restored houses and lavishly decorated terraces. At present, the houses are now shopping area mostly visited by tourists. As you can see there are patios on the sidewalk for those who are looking for a good dinner and cocktail night. Most buildings were constructed in the year 1903-1941 and surrounded by shophouses.

A city within the garden. Huge colorful and futuristic park in the bay area of Singapore. These 101-hectares offer an impressive skywalk, oversized greenhouses, cool temperate climates, and awarded as the best horticultural attraction in the world.

 

This 101-hectare nature park is one of the green attractions of the city. The garden was awarded by Guinness World Record as the “Largest Glass  Greenhouse” in the world in 2015. Certificate of excellence in 2016 by Trip Advisor and more awards and accolades.

 

The magnificent gardens and supertree grove trees capture the essence of Singapore as the premier tropical garden city. It was developed as a garden to be used as a staging place for rowing and canoeing events for the Youth Olympic Games last August 2010. The park consists of, Bay East, Bay South, and Bay Central which was later on developed.
