ARGENTINA

A country in South America bordered by Bolivia and Paraguay which is the eighth-largest country in the world.

 

It is sharing the bulk of “Southern Cone” with Chile to the western side. The federal capital of Argentina is, Buenos Aires,

The fourth-largest in the Americas and the largest Spanish-speaking nation by area. The main language spoken are Spanish, English, and Portuguese.

 

In 1516 and 1526 Spanish navigators visited the territory which is now Argentina. In 1536 Spanish navigator Pedro de Mendoza discovered Buenos Aires. 

 

In 1820 during the May revolution, a new government was formed in Buenos Aires composed of locals. During that year a French-Argentine Hippolyte Bouchard brought his fleet and initiated the war against Spain overseas and attacked Spanish California, “Spanish Philippines”, Spanish Chile, and Spanish Peru

1. IGUAZU FALLS

The stunning falls lie between Argentina and Brazil. Iguazú National Park has a long conservation history dating back to the early 20th Century and was declared a national park in 1934. It is one of the main attractions not only touristically but also ecological and natural.

 

It consists of 2 National Parks ,Puerto Iguazo of Argentina and Foz de Iguazo of Brazil. Both parks are frequently visited by travelers.Declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage site in 1984. Founded by Spanish Conquistador ALVAR NUNEZ CABEZA DE VACA. 

 

Iguazu comes from the Guarani words “Y“, meaning, “water” and “uazu”, meaning, “Big“.In 2011, the NEW SEVEN WONDERS FOUNDATION declared it,” New Wonder of the World”. And finally in 2013, UNESCO declared Iguazu National Park as an “Exceptional Universal Value”, due to the cultural and natural value importance of this area.

2.USHUAIA

Ushuaia is one of Argentina’s top destinations.  The capital is the port of Tierra del Fuego. This is located between the Martial Mountains and Beagle Channel.

It has spectacular Marine Wildlife and glorified as the city at the “end of the world” as the town is located at the southern tip of  South America.

 

Founded on October 12, 1884, by Augusto Lasserre and later on, the site was settled by An English missionary Wasti Stirling and settled in this town in 1870 and lived with the indigenous people called, “The Yamanas.The word Yamana means, “people”. More British Missionary arrived to establish a small settlement, and in those years the first Marriage, the first European birth and the first baptism were registered.

 

The Argentine naval base was established in 1884 and 1893 when it was partitioned between Argentina and  Chile then it was proclaimed as a city. 

The first Penal colony under the term of President Julio Argentino Roca was established for re-offenders to secure permanent residents for the Argentines, but only after the boundary treaty of 1881 between Chile and Argentina to establish the township and its penal colony.

Marble Caves are also known as, CUEVAS DE MARMOL“. They are mineral formations made of calcium carbonate located in General Carrera Lake. General Carrera Lake or  Lake Buenos Aires (Argentine part) named by Carlos Moyano an Argentinian geographer during his exploration in the area of Patagonia in1880. It is a lake located in Patagonia and shared by Argentina and Chile

 

The metamorphic rocks are formed when sedimentary rocks compressed by heat and pressure. Italian-Argentinian explorer Clemente Onelli said, that the Marble Rocks were made over 370 million years ago which he documented later on.

 

The Marble Caves, Marble Chapel, and the Marble Cathedral are unusual geological formations located on the shoreline midway along the length of the lake. They represent a group of caverns, columns, and tunnels formed in monoliths of marble. The Marble Caves have been formed by wave action over the last 6,200 years.

 

The incredible underground caves made entirely of marble are among the most beautiful and spectacular caves on our planet.
